Hazard Mitigation Plan

A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a comprehensive document created to develop and implement practical and manageable mitigation strategies that help to reduce a community’s risk to natural hazards.

An approved plan allows the Parish and participating municipalities to apply for federal funds for projects prioritized in the plan. View or download the Jefferson Parish 2020 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update and Annual Progress Report.

Jefferson Parish updates its plan through a collaborative effort of officials from Jefferson Parish, the cities of Gretna, Harahan, Kenner, Westwego and the towns of Grand Isle and Jean Lafitte. This update occurs every five years, with the next update planned for 2025. Visit the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update page to stay informed of committee meetings, events and plan updates.
