Eco-Encounter

Eco-Encounter is a joint education/outreach effort between the Ecosystem and Coastal Management and Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation departments.  Both departments have mandates and goals to educate citizens of Jefferson Parish on topics as broad as Flood Insurance /  Safety, Hazard Preparation / Mitigation to Coastal Land Loss and the importance of rebuilding Coastal Jefferson. We believe individuals retain information better when they have a hands on experience. Some of the events detailed in Eco-Encounter have been in effect for more than 30 years and some events have only been in effect for 1 year. Volunteers are the heartbeat of all of these events and we encourage anyone interested in having our team come to a classroom, summer camp, festival, or civic meeting to provide information please fill out the fillable form found in each project.
