The Department of Public Works consists of multiple departments including Water, Sewerage, Drainage, Streets, Parkways, Engineering, Environmental, and Capital Projects.
These departments offer a comprehensive range of services which include providing a safe, reliable supply of drinking water; the efficient, effective collection and treatment of wastewater; maintenance of storm drainage infrastructure including drainage pump stations; repair and maintenance of roads and bridges; maintenance of grass, shrubs, trees, and flower beds in parish-owned right of ways including the management of beautification projects; maintenance and operation of traffic signals, striping, and signs; maintenance of street lighting; planning, engineering, and construction management of all Public Works Capital Infrastructure Improvement projects; collection and proper disposal of solid waste, and watershed protection.
Public Works Investigation and Rehabilitation Section provides a quicker, centralized resolution to complaints from citizens concerning underground utilities; resulting in a fast response and cost savings by eliminating duplication of resources within the eight Public Works departments.
Collectively, Public Works Departments continue to operate, maintain and improve parish infrastructure. We are committed to provide the best and most efficient service to the citizens of our Parish.
