Jefferson Parish Transit announces the following bus service changes for 2024 Mardi Gras season effective from Friday, February 2 through Tuesday, February 13, 2024. 

MAGICAL KREWE OF MADHATTERS PARADE RESCHEDULED TO ROLL ON SUNDAY, FEB. 4, 2024

The Magical Krewe of MadHatters will now roll on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024 following the Krewe of Atlas which will roll at 2 p.m., due to the anticipated inclement weather forecast for Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.

LANE CLOSURE: LAPALCO BOULEVARD

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, the eastbound right and center lane of Lapalco Blvd., between Fairfield Ave. and Marlene Dr., will be closed.

EMERGENCY CLOSURE OF SOUTHBOUND LANES OF AMES BOULEVARD BETWEEN BELLE TERRE ROAD AND LAPALCO BOULEVARD

Due to a collapsed sewer line under Ames Blvd., both southbound lanes between Belle Terre Rd. and Lapalco Blvd., is currently closed.

LOCAL AUTHOR TO DISCUSS FRIENDSHIP WITH TENNESSEE WILLIAMS IN LECTURE AT THE EAST BANK REGIONAL LIBRARY

Alexandrea Weis, RN, PhD, an author of 15 books of fiction and young adults, will discuss her friendship with American playwright Tennessee Williams at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the East Bank Regional Library.

HISTORIAN TO GIVE LECTURE ABOUT THE UKRAINIAN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE AT THE EAST BANK REGIONAL LIBRARY

Cyril Lagvanec, PhD, the curator of the American-Italian Research Library located on the second floor of the East Bank Regional Library, will give a lecture on the Ukrainian War of Independence, at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the West Bank Regional Library.

JEFFERSON PARISH KICKS OFF 2024 CARNIVAL SEASON WITH FAMILY GRAS WEEKEND

Jefferson Parish is excited to announce this year’s Carnival season schedule and routes, with parades kicking off this weekend in conjunction with Family Gras in Metairie from Friday, Feb. 2 through Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024.

LANE CLOSURE: WESTBOUND VETERANS BOULEVARD

The right westbound lane of Veterans Blvd., between Lake Ave. and the 17th St. Canal, will be closed due to an installation of steel sheet piles for the new drainage pumping station.
