Mayor of Jean Lafitte Tim Kerner, Jr. and Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng have issued a mandatory evacuation for the town of Jean Lafitte, Lower Lafitte, Crown Point and Barataria due to Tropical Storm Zeta.

Mayor of Jean Lafitte Tim Kerner, Jr. and Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng have issued a voluntary evacuation for the town of Jean Lafitte, Lower Lafitte, Crown Point and Barataria due to Tropical Storm Zeta.

JEFFERSON PARISH MONITORING TROPICAL STORM ZETA

Tropical Storm Zeta is currently forecast to bring a multi-hazard threat to the area late Wednesday into Wednesday night as a strong tropical storm or Category 1 hurricane.

Starting Monday, October 26, 2020, at 9:00 a.m., the eastbound lane of Metairie Rd. (south side) will be closed 50’ feet west from Glenwood Dr. daily until 3:00 p.m. Flaggers will be stationed on the roadway to facilitate traffic.

District 2 Councilman Deano Bonano plans to pass a resolution at the next Jefferson Parish Council meeting, which will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 10 a.m., to request that the United States Congressional Delegation representing Jefferson Parish work with the US Railroad Administration to prevent Canadian National Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad from blocking the intersections at Little Farms Ave. and Central Ave. for periods in excess of those allowed by law.
