FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TRASH, STORM DEBRIS AND RECYCLING COLLECTION UPDATE DUE TO HURRICANE IDA

JEFFERSON, LA – Curbside trash collection of bagged, household garbage placed in tipper carts only will resume on Monday, September 6, 2021. Collection will occur on a limited basis, as drivers return, downed power lines are cleared, and areas become assessible. Due to the severity of the storm, there will be delays in collection, and pick-up may not occur on your normal collection day.

TRASH DROP OFF SITES
All trash drop-off sites will remain closed until Monday, September 6, 2021.

STORM DEBRIS
Storm debris will be picked up separately by debris contractors starting Monday. Tree debris must be piled separately from construction/demolition debris (fence boards) for efficient collection. Make sure that each pile is clear of any electrical lines, water meters, mail boxes and fire hydrants.

It is not unusual that a truck may pick up some of your debris, but not all of it on a particular sweep. Trucks will come back later to pick up the remaining debris if placed at the curb prior to the final dates of debris clean-up.

Bagged debris will be picked up separately from storm debris. Do not pile bagged waste on piles of storm related debris as this must be collected separately in accordance with FEMA guidelines.

RECYCLING COLLECTION
Curbside recycling collection will be suspended until further notice due to the need for extra personnel to focus on garbage collection.
