FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE DEBRIS COLLECTION FOR HURRICANE ZETA HAS ENDED

Jefferson Parish collected approximately 138,000 cubic yards of storm debris material in
Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte

JEFFERSON, LA – On Friday, December 18, 2020, contractors completed the Hurricane Zeta debris removal program in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. Collection trucks that exclusively pick up storm-related debris are no longer in operation.

Residents may continue to dispose of storm-related debris according to the usual residential-collection guidelines for bulky waste. If the material placed curbside exceeds the criteria for the curbside collection of bulk waste, then it is the responsibility of the property owner to remove and dispose of the debris. The standards for bulk waste pick-up can be found on the Jefferson Parish website at: Garbage and Recycling (jeffparish.net).

Since early November, the trucks that picked up storm debris collected about 138,000 cubic yards of material from public servitudes in residential neighborhoods. All material was collected in accordance with FEMA eligibility guidelines.

Residents should contact the Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs at 504-731-4612 to report incidents of missed storm debris or bulk waste collection.
