JP INSPECTOR GENERAL “MEETS ALL RELEVANT AIG AND IIA STANDARDS”
AFTER INDEPENDENT PEER REVIEW

JEFFERSON, LA – The Association of Inspector Generals (AIG) performed a Peer Review of the Jefferson Parish Office of Inspector General (JPOIG) Audit Division and Investigations Division. The Peer Review Team unanimously concluded that both the Audit and Investigative Sections “met all relevant AIG and IIA standards for the period under review.”

The Peer Review Team evaluated the work of the two divisions covering the last four years (2017, 2018, 2019, 2020). The Team performed the review between October 25, 2021 and October 26, 2021 and assessed the work of the Audit Division and Investigations Division and determined the standards were consistent with the AIG Principles and Standards for Offices of Inspector General.

According to Inspector General David McClintock, “The peer review demonstrates this office is operating in compliance with a series of standards designed to ensure high quality services are provided with integrity and professionalism”.

Among the Stakeholders interviewed were Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, Council Chairman Scott Walker, Ethics Commission Chair Howard Maestri, and representatives from the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The three-person Peer Review Team consisted of the following individuals:

• Team Leader: James Mazer – Supervisory Special Agent, Retired Miami-Dade County Office of Inspector Genera
• Investigative Review: Flora Miller - Regional Investigator/Accreditation Manager Florida Department of Children and Families Office of Inspector General
• Audit Review: Edyth Porter-Stanley – Forensic Auditor City of Detroit - Office of Inspector General
