JEFFERSON PARISH TO HOST PUBLIC MEETINGS
TO COLLECT INPUT ON DRAFT INDUSTRIAL ZONING REGULATIONS

JEFFERSON, LAThe Jefferson Parish Planning Department, with the assistance of planning and zoning consulting firm Camiros, will be hosting two public meetings to solicit input on the draft industrial zoning regulations, which will update the Parish’s regulation related to industrial zoning districts.

The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the Joseph S. Yenni Building (1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Jefferson, LA 70123) from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. This meeting will be streamed live on JPTV (Channel 6 on Cox and Channel 99 on AT&T Uverse), the Jefferson Parish Facebook page, www.facebook.com/JeffersonParishGov and the Jefferson Parish website, www.jeffparish.tv/live.

The second meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 in the Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of the General Government Building (200 Derbigny St., Gretna, LA 70053) from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.

The goal of the Jefferson Parish Industrial Zoning Districts Study is to evaluate the current industrial district structure and associated regulations to create a set of new, modern districts and standards that work with existing industrial development patterns. This holistic evaluation will address the broad spectrum of issues and opportunities related to industrial development in Jefferson Parish. This project will be completed in three phases and the final product will be an updated set of districts, including uses and development standards. Phase 1 of this project began in the summer of 2021, which included discussions with staff regarding current issues, review of all relevant materials, a site visit and meetings with stakeholders. Phase 1 concluded in a Framework Report that identified key issues with current industrial zoning and framework for zoning renovations, which was presented to the public in February of 2022.

Phase 2 of the project is underway and the consultant is developing a series of drafts of the new industrial zoning districts. These drafts will be presented publicly to gain input before proceeding to Phase 3: the adoption phase. The drafts will be available on Monday, November 14, 2022 under the documents section of the Jefferson Parish Industrial Zoning Project website.

As part of the public meeting, there will be a presentation which highlights key elements of the proposed regulations. Members of the Planning Department staff and the consultant, Camiros, will answer questions and obtain feedback regarding the proposed recommendations from the public following the presentation. After the meeting, the presentation will be available on the Jefferson Parish Industrial Zoning Project website. The public can also leave comments on the project website’s homepage.
