JEFFERSON PARISH REMINDS RESIDENTS ABOUT KEY INFORMATION
ON CURBSIDE TRASH COLLECTION IN ADVANCE OF TROPICAL WEATHER

JEFFERSON, LA – Jefferson Parish is closely monitoring the forecasted track of Tropical Storm Laura and Tropical Depression #14, projected to have an impact on Jefferson Parish. Here is some important information regarding curbside garbage, bulk waste and recycling collection to prepare for the possible landfall of the approaching storms:

  • Tropical weather may cause services to be suspended before and/or after a storm. When this occurs, curbside collection will not resume until it is designated as safe by the proper authorities.

  • If a tropical weather threat causes the closing of the Jefferson Parish landfill, collections will have to stop at that time and all four Jefferson Parish Trash-Drop-Off sites will be closed.

  • Once a tropical threat is approaching, residents are asked to delay placing bulk waste material at the curb until after the threat has passed. If yard waste or tree debris is on hand, avoid placing it at the curb, since the material could potentially clog drainage structures or be picked up by high winds.

  • Be sure to secure solid waste materials by placing them in a location away from high winds. This includes garbage or recycling containers, as well as uncollected garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste.

“The safety of our residents, employees and contractors is paramount,” said Katherine Costanza, assistant director of Environmental Affairs. “We encourage residents to check our website and Facebook page often for the most up-to-date information on curbside collection in advance of an approaching storm.”
