JEFFERSON PARISH PREPARES FOR THE MARCH 20TH ELECTION
Early Voting will continue to take place through Saturday, March 13, 2021

JEFFERSON, LAThe Open Municipal/U.S. Representative, Congressional Districts 2 and 5/State Representative, Representative District 82 Special Primary Election is on Saturday, March 20, 2021. Voters are encouraged to go to the polls or cast an early vote. Early voting will take place through Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Early voting is conducted by the Jefferson Parish Registrar of Voters Office. Voters registered anywhere in Jefferson Parish may cast an early vote at any of the following locations: the Joseph S. Yenni Building (1221 Elmwood Park Blvd. in Harahan), Charles B. Odom Building (5001 West Bank Expressway in Marrero) and the Kenner-Rivertown Registrar of Voters Office (408 Minor St. in Kenner). 

The Secretary of State also opened a new permanent early voting location in Jefferson Parish at the West Bank Regional Library (2751 Manhattan Blvd., Harvey, LA 70058). This new location will provide another alternative for Jefferson Parish residents who want to early vote.

The deadline to request a mail ballot is on March 16 at 4:30 p.m. Voters can request an absentee by mail ballot online through the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Voter Portal or by contacting the Jefferson Parish Registrar of Voters Office; the deadline for the Registrar of Voters to receive a voted mail ballot is March 19, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. (other than military and overseas voters). Absentee ballot drop off boxes will be available at the Jefferson Parish early voting locations.

Items on the March 20, 2021 ballot include:

  • The continuation of the Consolidated Waterworks (District 2) millage is for voters in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the municipalities of Kenner, Harahan, Jean Lafitte and Grand Isle, as well as that portion of the City of Gretna where Timberlane Subdivision is located. The millage covers the operating costs of the Jefferson Parish Water Department and is the sole source of funding for all major construction projects. This is a continuation of a millage that has been in place for 30 years.
  • The continuation of the Consolidated Sewerage (District 1) millage is for voters in Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte as well as that portion of the City of Gretna where Timberlane Subdivision is located. The millage covers the daily operation and maintenance of the Jefferson Parish Sewerage System and the replacement and upgrade of the sewerage collection, transport and treatment facilities. This is a continuation of a millage that has been in place for 30 years.
