FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Jefferson Parish Pilot Composting Project at Two Crescent City Farmers

Market Locations Postponed Until Further Notice

The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs, a Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliate, has been partnering with Schmelly’s Dirt Farm and the Crescent City Farmer’s Market to host a pilot compost collection project on Wednesday evenings in the parking lot of Ochsner’s Rehabilitation Center at 2614 Jefferson Highway, and on Friday evenings at the Bucktown Marina.

The Parish and the Crescent City Farmers Market has been closely monitoring and evaluating the spread of COVID-19 and the health and safety of our residents and staff is a top priority. As a result, the pilot compost project has been temporarily suspended until such time operations can safely resume. This decision is aligned with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) public health recommendations.
