JEFFERSON PARISH LIBRARY SYSTEM ENTERS PHASE II

JEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Library System will re-open to the public on Wednesday, June 10, on a limited basis.

Libraries will be open for curbside pick-up and computer use by appointment from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Grand Isle Library will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

During Phase II, a limited number of patrons will be allowed into libraries to use computers. Patrons must call each library to reserve use on the computers. Computers have been spaced out in order to accommodate social distancing. They will be wiped down by staff after each use.

Public computers will be available by appointment only. Patrons will be able to use computers for up to one hour. WiFi is available 24/7 in all library parking lots.

Also during Phase II, the library will begin curbside service. Patrons can go to the library website to use the online catalog in order to place holds on books, DVDs, CDs or other materials for pick-up at the various branches. Patrons will be called when their items are retrieved. Patrons will be allowed to search the catalog if necessary, but the collection is closed to the public. Staff members will retrieve the items and patrons can use the self-check machines.

Patrons must wear masks and will have their temperatures taken before entry. While patrons are in libraries, they must adhere to social distancing guidelines. Library staff will be wearing protective gear and will subscribe to social distancing guidelines. All returned library items will be quarantined following appropriate guidelines. Fines will continue to be waived.

The Jefferson Parish Library system consists of 16 locations that stretch from the Lakeshore Branch on the edge of Lake Pontchartrain to the Grand Isle Branch just steps away from the Gulf of Mexico. The library system consists of two large regional libraries and seven branches on each side of the Mississippi River.
