JEFFERSON PARISH LIBRARY HOSTS CORONAVIRUS MASK CONTEST
Public is encouraged to drop off masks at library locations before Oct.23
JEFFERSON, LA – Throughout the month of October, the Jefferson Parish Library will be hosting a Coronavirus mask contest. The deadline to submit face masks is Friday, Oct. 23, 2020 at any library in the Jefferson Parish Library system.
The contest is open to anyone with a Jefferson Parish Library card or a New Orleans Public Library card. There will be three divisions in each category (children, teens and adults). Categories include:
· Best Food Related Mask.
· Best Literature Related Mask.
· Best New Orleans Themed Mask.
· Best New Orleans Saints Related Mask.
· Best Halloween Mask.
For the purposes of the contest, a face mask can be construed as any item that covers the face and protects the wearer as best as possible from coronavirus as well as other airborne diseases. Plastic shields are acceptable items.
Winning masks will be displayed in the cases at the East Bank Regional Library. All contest submissions become the property of the Jefferson Parish Library and will be donated to the Jefferson Parish Historical Commission to serve as artifacts to document the COVID-19 experience. Participants are urged to describe their masks and their experiences during this period at the JPL Coronavirus Chronicles. The link can be found on the home page of the library’s website.
