JEFFERSON PARISH LEADERS GATHER FOR FIRE STATION 12 GROUNDBREAKING

JEFFERSON, LA – Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, Councilman Deano Bonano (District 2), Chief Dave Tibbetts with the Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department (JPFD) and other Jefferson Parish leaders and local partners gathered today to break ground on the new Fire Station 12, located at 900 Jefferson Hwy.

According to Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, “We are so very excited to break ground on the newest Fire Station 12. This new fire station will replace an outdated, single bay facility built in the 1950’s. A centrally located, modern fire station will enhance public assistance requests and response times for the citizens of Jefferson Parish.”

This new Fire Station 12 will be a $1.992 million state-of-the-art two bay facility to include full backup power supply allowing for emergency operations. The new fire station will be 6,136 square feet with 3,840 square feet living space and a 2,296 square feet engine bay.

“I look forward to the completion of this fire station and what it will mean for the citizens of Jefferson Parish and the residents throughout District 2 that this station will serve, which includes the area between the New Orleans Parish line to Causeway Blvd. and River Road to Earhart Blvd.,” said Councilman Deano Bonano (District 2).

The contractor for this project is Crescent Commercial Construction and the Design Engineer is All South Consulting Engineers. Construction started on July 26, 2020. The estimated completion date is July 20, 2021. Funding for this project came from a dedicated fire millage, which was recently renewed by voters served by JPFD on August 15, 2020.

According to Chief Dave Tibbets, “This new fire station will provide a proficient work environment for the firefighters of the Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department. JPFD is a fully paid professional fire department made up of 285 personnel. Our Fire Department responded to more than 5,000 requests for emergency service last year, serving over 141,000 people.”
