JEFFERSON PARISH IN PARTNERSHIP WITH IRON MOUNTAIN HOSTS PAPER SHREDDING EVENT

JEFFERSON, LA - The Jefferson Parish Department of Environmental Affairs, in partnership with Iron Mountain, will host a paper shredding event on Saturday, June 5, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The event will take place in the parking lot of the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Blvd. This is an opportunity for Jefferson Parish residents to responsibly dispose of sensitive paper documents quickly, easily and securely. Cancelled checks, medical records, credit card information, utility bills, old tax returns and pay stubs are among the many items that can be destroyed by shredding.

These services are offered at no charge to Jefferson Parish residents. Residents are limited to five (5) boxes of paper per vehicle. Each box should not exceed the size of a standard banker box (24 x 15 x 10’). Materials from businesses cannot be accepted. Due to COVID-19, this will be a self-service event. Residents will have to unload the paper from the vehicle themselves and bring it to the shredding operator. Paper may contain small paper clips or staples.

The following is not accepting for shredding:

  • 3 ring binders
  • Metal objects (large paper clips, binder clips, etc.)
  • Plastic objects
  • Cloth objects
  • Household Hazardous Waste of any kind

The event will run until the scheduled time, or until the shred truck reaches capacity. If severe weather occurs during the event, material cannot be accepted and the event may end early due to safety concerns.
