JEFFERSON PARISH HOSTS PUBLIC MEETINGS TO COLLECT INPUT FOR
THE INDUSTRIAL ZONING DISTRICT STUDY AND FRAMEWORK REPORT

JEFFERSON, LA - The Jefferson Parish Planning Department, with the assistance of Camiros, a planning and zoning consulting firm, is hosting two public meetings to solicit input on the Jefferson Parish Industrial Zoning District Study and Framework Report, which will update the Parish’s regulations related to industrial districts.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the Lafreniere Park Foundation Center, 3000 Downs Blvd, Metairie, LA 70003. The second meeting will take place on Thursday, February 17, 2022 from 5 - 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers on the 2nd Floor of the General Government Building, located at 200 Derbigny St., Gretna, LA 70053. The meeting on Thursday will also be streamed live on JPTV (Channel 6 on COX and Channel 99 on AT&T Uverse) and the Jefferson Parish website, www.jeffparish.tv/live.

The goal of the Jefferson Parish Industrial Zoning District Study and Framework Report is to evaluate the current industrial district structure and associated regulations to create a set of new, modern districts and standards that work with existing industrial development patterns. This holistic evaluation will address the broad spectrum of issues and opportunities related to industrial development in Jefferson Parish. This project will be completed in three phases and the final product will be an updated set of districts, including uses and development standards. Phase 1 of this project began in the summer of 2021, which included discussions with staff regarding current issues, review of all relevant materials, a site visit and meetings with stakeholders. This Phase concluded in a Framework Report that identifies key issues with current industrial zoning and presents a framework for zoning revisions, which will take place in Phase 2.

There will be a presentation of the findings and recommendations of the Framework Report at the public meetings. Questions and feedback from the public will be fielded by the consultant and Parish planning staff following the presentation. After the meeting, the presentation will be available on the project website: www.jpindustrialzoning.com. The public can also leave comments on the project website’s homepage.
