JEFFERSON PARISH DEPARTMENT OF FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT AND HAZARD MITIGATION ANNOUNCES RESIDENTIAL HAZARD MITIGATION CONTRACTOR INFORMATION SESSION

JEFFERSON, LAThe Jefferson Parish Department of Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation will host a Hazard Mitigation Contractor Information Session on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 from 2-3 p.m. in Room 405 of the Joseph S. Yenni Building (1221 Elmwood Park Blvd., Jefferson, LA 70123). The purpose of this meeting is to update Licensed Residential Contractors on the changes to the policies and procedures for the department’s various home mitigation programs.

Homeowner applications will not be accepted at these meetings.  

Jefferson Parish applies for FEMA mitigation funding every year and also receives funding allocations after federally declared disasters. Residential projects are open to Louisiana State Licensed Contractors. Properties are mitigated either through elevation or mitigation reconstruction (demolished/rebuilt elevated) to make them safe from flooding and to meet current building codes.

In addition to the in-person meeting, Jefferson Parish Department of Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation will also provide access via Microsoft Teams. In order to participate via Teams, contractors MUST RSVP to Fernando Saldana via email at fsaldana@jeffparish.net.
