JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCILMAN DOMINICK F. IMPASTATO, III HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING
TO CELEBRATE UPGRADES TO THE WOODEN BRIDGES AT LAFRENIERE PARK

METAIRIE, LA – On Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, Councilman Dominick F. Impastato, III and Jefferson Parish officials hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of recent upgrades to the two wooden bridges in Lafreniere Park with a cost of $168,300.00. The newly renovated bridges are another step toward planned capital improvements for the Park.

The two existing wooden bridges have been located in Lafreniere Park since the park opened in 1982. Both bridges had rotted deck boards that became unsafe for public use. The upgrades to the wooden bridges included replacing all rotted deck boards with carbon fiber materials and epoxy resin, which ensures the bridges will last for many years to come.

“After these bridges were closed for approximately one year, I am so pleased to be a part of this ribbon cutting and the upgrades that continue to be made here in Lafreniere Park,” said Councilman Dominick F. Impastato, III. “The preservation of green spaces in our parish is vital to our quality of life here in Jefferson Parish.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 3 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Boulevard in Metairie (Shelter #2).
