JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCILMAN BYRON L. LEE AND JEFFERSON PARISH OFFICIALS TO CELEBRATE THE UPGRADES AND RENOVATIONS OF AVONDALE PLAYGROUND

AVONDALE, LA – Councilman Byron L. Lee and Jefferson Parish elected officials hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony today to celebrate the completion of upgrades to Avondale Playground, totaling a cost of $671,275.00. The goal of these renovations is to help provide residents with a safe, fun playground where families can socialize, play and create everlasting memories.

“Providing quality parks and recreational facilities to our residents remains one of my top priorities, and I will continue to focus on improving playgrounds to encourage outdoor play and enhance residents’ quality of life,” said Councilman Byron L. Lee. “These upgrades will provide long-term benefits for our residents to enjoy.”

The playground upgrades include a new basketball and volleyball court flooring with a custom logo, new metal ceiling panels with sound insulation baffles, vinyl wall padding, and ADA accessible bleachers. In addition, new basketball goals and backboards were installed. The meeting room, kitchen, restrooms, and hallways were also renovated.

The ribbon cutting ceremony took place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Avondale Playground, 709 S. Jamie Boulevard in Avondale. CLICK HERE to watch a video of the full ceremony.
