February 21, 2020 JEFFERSON PARISH COUNCIL HOLDS SPECIAL MEETING TO DISCUSS HOSPITAL DEAL |

JJEFFERSON, LA – The Jefferson Parish Council will hold a special meeting on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 5 p.m. at the Joseph S. Yenni Building, 1221 Elmwood Park Boulevard, Jefferson, 70123 to discuss the proposed Asset Purchase Agreement between LCMC Health and East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH). The meeting will begin with a presentation by EJGH and LCMC Health executives regarding the proposed sale. The agenda will contain resolutions for Council consideration adopting and approving the Asset Purchase Agreement between LCMC Health and EJGH, and calling a special election on the matter. The meeting is open to the public and interested residents are encouraged to attend. The EJGH Board of Directors unanimously voted on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 to endorse the acquisition agreement with LCMC Health. The endorsement came in the form of a resolution calling upon the Jefferson Parish Council to approve the acquisition and authorize EJGH’s officers to execute a final agreement with LCMC Health, which would occur upon passage by the voters with a target date to conduct a vote on May 9. Sale of the hospital requires approval of the Jefferson Parish Council, a majority of voters on the east bank of Jefferson Parish, the state Attorney General’s Office, the state Bond Commission and Federal Trade Commission.
