JEFFERSON PARISH CLOSED MONDAY, JULY 3 AND TUESDAY, JULY 4, 2023 IN OBSERVANCE OF INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY
East Bank Regional Library and West Bank Regional Library will remain open Monday and Tuesday as cooling shelters during the extreme heat

JEFFERSON, LA – All Jefferson Parish Government offices will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday July 4, 2023 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. This includes Jefferson Protection & Animal Welfare Services (JPAWS)the East and West Jefferson American Job CentersJefferson Parish Parks & Recreation (JPRD) classes and programs (not including Lafreniere Park and Parc des Familles), as well as the Johnny Jacobs pool; and all Jefferson Parish Libraries, with the exception of the East Bank Regional and West Bank Regional Library. 

Library Cooling Shelters:

Citizens should remain weather aware and take precautionary measures to avoid becoming a victim of heat exhaustion and related illnesses. Since Jefferson Parish is currently under an Excessive Heat Warning, the East Bank Regional and West Bank Regional Library will remain open on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. as cooling shelters. Visit www.JPLibrary.net  for hours. There will be no programing at the East Bank Regional and West Bank Regional Library on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, 2023; however, residents are welcome to utilize these libraries to stay cool during the extreme heat.

Transit:

Jefferson Parish Transit will be running a Saturday service on Tuesday, July 4, 2023CLICK HERE to see maps and schedules to check service by route. 

Curbside Garbage & Recycling Collection:

Curbside garbage collection will take place as scheduled on Monday, July 3, 2023, but there will be no curbside garbage collection on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 for residents of Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte. Curbside recycling will take place as scheduled on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, 2023. There will be no make-up day for the missed garbage collection on Independence Day (Tuesday, July 4); the next collection day for those scheduled to have garbage pick-up on Tuesdays will be Friday, July 7, 2023. All four Parish trash drop-off sites and the Jefferson Parish Landfill will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4, 2023 and will reopen on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. For additional information regarding collection, please contact the Department of Environmental Affairs at (504) 731-4612.
