JEFFERSON PARISH ANNOUNCES RETURN OF FILM PRODUCTION TO THE AREA

JEFFERSON, LA – Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken, Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, and East Jefferson General Hospital celebrated a street dedication ceremony honoring all healthcare workers and first responders who devote their lives to ensuring the health, safety and wellness of our community. In addition to the street dedication, local artist Madi Hannan painted final details on the Healthcare Heroes Way and West Esplanade Ave. traffic control box at the time of the event.

“I am honored to dedicate Healthcare Heroes Way, so that our healthcare heroes are acknowledged every day for their daily sacrifices and are remembered for their continued source of inspiration, strength, courage, and hope for our community, for future generations, and for health heroes to come,” said District 5 Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken.

According to Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng, “Our healthcare heroes have been our front-line defense against the COVID-19 pandemic and we just want to say thank you so much. Every time we pass by Healthcare Heroes Way, we will remember your good efforts and how you stood strong for our community and for Jefferson Parish.".

“To rename this as ‘Healthcare Heroes Way’ is to recognize the selfless commitment to care that we have always seen at East Jefferson General Hospital and will continue to provide for years to come. While this pandemic has shown a spotlight on it…we have always seen amazing displays of courage, compassion and selfless care every day,” said CEO and President of East Jefferson General Hospital Gerald Parton.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Noon in the Atrium located at East Jefferson General Hospital, 4200 Houma Boulevard in Metairie.
