ANNOUNCES ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORTS FOR FLOOD INSURANCE DISCOUNTS
More than $12 million in flood insurance saved annually for Jefferson Parish
flood insurance policy holders through CRS activities
JEFFERSON, LA - Every year, the Jefferson Parish Department of Floodplain Management and Hazard Mitigation implements floodplain management activities that exceed the minimum requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP)’s Community Rating System (CRS). As a result, residents receive flood insurance discounts, which totals more than $12 million in flood insurance savings annually for policy holders in unincorporated Jefferson Parish.
Per CRS requirements, Jefferson Parish updates the Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, Repetitive Loss Area Analysis (RLAA) Report, and Multijurisdictional Program for Public Information – Annual Evaluation Report every year.
- The Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan – Annual Progress Report is a comprehensive plan that identifies practical, manageable mitigation strategies to be implemented to reduce Jefferson Parish’s risk to natural hazards. - The annual progress report for RLAA provides an in-depth look at areas that have experienced multiple flood losses; this report is available online at RLAA 2021 Annual Report.
- The Multijurisdictional Program for Public Information – Annual Evaluation Report includes an outreach strategy focusing on flood protection, which is available online at Program for Public Information 2021 Annual Report .
