COUNCILWOMAN JENNIFER VAN VRANCKEN
UNVEILS HENRY SHANE SCULPTURE TRAIL
Free, Permanent Outdoor Artscape Project named after Metairie Businessman and Philanthropist

JEFFERSON, LA – Jefferson Parish Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken, Jefferson Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Jefferson Parish Officials announced the official naming of The Henry Shane Sculpture Trail as part of The Severn Avenue Improvement Project Ribbon Cutting on Thursday Afternoon (May 4, 2023).

William Henry Shane, Jr. was born in 1937, and grew up in Metairie. He studied Architecture at Tulane University, and along with his wife, Pat, is an avid collector of art and classic cars. To date, Mr. and Mrs. Shane have donated nearly 40 sculptures to Jefferson Parish to beautify public spaces, and spark a love of art in residents and visitors of all ages.

“I am thrilled that our public sculpture trail will bear the name of one of the most generous, pro-Jefferson Parish people I know,” said Councilwoman Jennifer Van Vrancken. “Through their generosity and love of art, Henry and Pat Shane have added culture and color in a way that benefits our whole community and we are thankful!”

The plaque marking the trail of public artwork sits at the northeast corner of Veterans Memorial Blvd. at Severn Ave. (outside 3417 Veterans Blvd.) in Metairie. To view photos of public artworks and learn more, visit: https://www.visitjeffersonparish.com/things-to-do/arts-and-culture/artscapes/.
