AVENUES RECOVERY OFFERS SOBER SAFE SPOT
FOR 2023 CARNIVAL SEASON IN JEFFERSON PARISH

JEFFERSON, LAAvenues Recovery will again provide a Sober Safe Spot along the East Bank parade route in Jefferson Parish to allow those in drug and alcohol addiction recovery to fully join in the revelry of Mardi Gras.

Jefferson Parish Council Chairman Scott Walker has been working closely with Avenues to secure the sober spot location. According to Walker, "For those in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, trigger risks are everywhere during Carnival season. We're grateful to once again partner with Avenues Recovery to identify this year's sober spot, which will be a celebratory, inclusive gathering location for people committed to sobriety to participate in Mardi Gras while enjoying the support of family and friends."

The safe spot will be located at Veterans Memorial Boulevard and Causeway Boulevard (across from New Balance, 3141 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70002) for all parades from Friday, February 10, 2023 through Tuesday, February 22, 2023. It will be manned by Avenues Recovery alumni and marked with white flags. Everyone in or supporting recovery is welcome. Participants must arrive sober.

“Our goal in creating a Sober Safe Spot is to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere with like-minded members of the community, their families and friends,” said Rachel Alter, marketing director for Avenues Recovery.

Avenues Recovery is a fully accredited substance abuse treatment network founded in 2016 and serving communities nationwide. The centers are staffed by clinical and medical professionals, focused on creating positive outcomes for clients.
