ALARIO CENTER COVID-19 TESTING AND VACCINE SITE
IN JEFFERSON PARISH TO CLOSE FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2022

JEFFERSON, LAThe Alario Center COVID-19 testing and vaccine site, operated by the Louisiana National Guard and Quest Diagnostics, will close on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 4 p.m.

The Alario Center has been operating as a testing site since March 21, 2020, shortly after a Jefferson Parish resident tested positive for the first case of COVID-19 in Louisiana on March 9, 2020. The site was one of the first pilot COVID-19 testing sites established in the United States when the pandemic first began. More than 39,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted and more than 5,000 vaccines have been issued at the Alario Center.

Those in need of a test or vaccine after Friday can visit one of Jefferson Parish’s public health units or call their local pharmacy or doctor. The Metairie Public Heath Unit is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Marrero Public Heath Unit is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An updated list of community sites providing vaccinations and boosters can be found at COVID.JeffParish.net.

“The Alario Center has really been such a huge part of our defense against COVID,” said Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng. “We want thank all our Jefferson Parish departments and partner agencies that helped set-up and staff the Alario Center these past couple of years, including the Louisiana National Guard, our entire Jefferson Parish Emergency Management Department team along with CAA Sarah Babcock, Alario Center staff, Jefferson Parish Fire Services, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jefferson Parish Parks & Recreation Department, Jefferson Parish General Services Department and the Louisiana Department of Health.”
