About the Water Department
The East Bank's four water plants purification complex is located at 3600 Jefferson Highway. These plants were constructed in 1951, 1955, 1965, and 1969, respectively. The West Bank's two water plants purification complex is located at 4500 Westbank Expressway in Marrero. The two plants were constructed in 1958 and 1971, respectively. Present rated production capacity for the East Bank is 87 million gallons per day and the rated production capacity for the West Bank complex is 61 million gallons per day.
The Jefferson Parish distribution system contains approximately 1,787 miles of water mains 23,732 valves, and 16,407 hydrants.
The Water Department Customer Service number for both East Bank and West Bank accounts is 736-6060. Call this number for information regarding new service, for turning water on or off, reporting a water problem, or to speak with a customer service representative. Please use this number during regular office hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.
