LANE CLOSURES ON WALL BOULEVARD    Starting today and ending on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 3 p.m. the 3100 and 3200 blocks of Wall Boulevard in Gretna will close.
THANKSGIVING BASKET GIVE-A-WAY   New Orleans Saints player Chris Reis and his wife, Michelle, will volunteer at Jefferson Community Action Programs' (JeffCAP) Dorothy Watson Community Center, 1300 S. Myrtle Street in Metairie, for the center's Thanksgiving Basket Give-A-Way on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 12:30 p.m.
WEYER STREET ROAD CLOSURE    On Wednesday, November 18, 2009, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Weyer Street in Gretna will completely close between 4th Street and 3rd Street.
LAPALCO BRIDGE UPDATE    Repairs to the Lapalco Bridge over the Harvey Canal are under way and should be completed in approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
PET ADOPTION DAY AT JEFFERSON FEED   The Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter and the Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter (FJAS) will host a dog and cat adoption event on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jefferson Feed located at 4421 Jefferson Highway.
LAPALCO BRIDGE - ONE EASTBOUND AND ONE WESTBOUND LANE NOW OPEN   One lane eastbound and one lane westbound on Lapalco Boulevard across the Harvey Canal Bridge are now open to motorists. The Harvey Canal is also opened to marine traffic.
WEYER STREET ROAD CLOSURE   On Friday, November 13, 2009, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Weyer Street in Gretna will completely close between 4th Street and 3rd Street.
STORM SPOTTERS NEEDED IN JEFFERSON PARISH   Jefferson Parish Emergency Management will sponsor a citizen storm spotter class presented by the National Weather Service (NWS) on Monday, November 16, 2009 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the East Bank Regional Library, Napoleon Room B, 4747 West Napoleon Avenue in Metairie.
JEFFERSON PARISH EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER ACTIVATED   The Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center is activated and will remain activated until the threat of Hurricane Ida has passed. Parish emergency response agencies are on full alert and monitoring the system.
PUBLIC HEARINGS SET FOR ANIMAL WELFARE RECOMMENDATIONS   Jefferson Parish's Animal Welfare Committee is holding two public hearings for all citizens to review and comment on its proposed recommendations to the Parish Council.
OFFSITE PET FEST PARKING   On Sunday, November 1st Jefferson Parish will be providing a shuttle service to move Pet Fest goers from an offsite parking lot to Lafreniere Park.
LANE CLOSURES ON LAPALCO BOULEVARD   Beginning Monday, November 2, 2009 at 9 a.m. and ending Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 6 p.m., lane closures on Lapalco Boulevard in Harvey will be in effect between Destrehan Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue will close.
MANHATTAN BOULEVARD LANE CLOSURE    Beginning Monday, November 2, 2009 at 9 a.m. and ending Friday, November 16, 2009 at 5 p.m., Manhattan Boulevard between Lake Tahoe Drive and Breckenridge Drive in Harvey will have alternating lane closures.
AERIAL SPRAYING FOR MOSQUITOES   Aerial spraying in response to nuisance mosquito activity is scheduled to take place in Jefferson Parish on the evening of Friday, October 30, 2009, over parts of the East and West Banks of Jefferson Parish, weather conditions permitting.
REVISED WEYER STREET ROAD CLOSURE   Beginning Monday, October 26, 2009 at 5 a.m. and ending Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 6 a.m., Weyer Street in Gretna will completely close between 4th Street and 3rd Street.
SECOND ANNUAL FRIENDS PET FEST    The Second Annual Friends Pet Fest, sponsored by Jefferson Parish and the Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter, will take place this Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Lafreniere Park in Metairie from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

AMES BOULEVARD AT TRINITY DRIVE    Beginning on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 8 a.m. and ending on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 7 a.m. Ames Boulevard at Trinity Drive in Marrero will close.

NORTH CAUSEWAY EXIT VETERANS & WESTBOUND I-10 TO NORTH CAUSEWAY ENTRANCE TO CLOSE    The North Causeway exit to Veterans Boulevard will close Thursday, October 8, 2009 for four months while crews construct the future off-ramp from North Causeway to Veterans, the future westbound off-ramp from I-10 to North Causeway and portions of the future South Causeway fly-over on-ramp to I-10 East.

RELOCATION OF ACCESS RAMP    Beginning Thursday, September 17, 2009 and ending Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7 p.m., access from Peters Road to Lapalco Boulevard westbound will completely close to relocate the access ramp to Lapalco Boulevard.
U-TURN LANE CLOSURE ON BONNABEL BOULEVARD    Beginning on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 7 a.m. and ending on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 the u-turn lane on Bonnabel Boulevard just north of Veterans Boulevard will close; motorists can proceed to Pomona Street.
CITRUS BOULEVARD ROAD CLOSURE    Beginning on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 6 a.m. and ending on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 6 p.m., Citrus Boulevard at Sams Avenue in Harahan will be completely closed.

CHANGE IN GARBAGE COLLECTION   Residents of Unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte should be aware that if one of their bi-weekly garbage collection days falls on one of the holidays listed below, garbage will not be collected on the holiday but will instead be picked up on the next scheduled garbage collection day for that neighborhood.

MORE PETS STILL NEED TO BE ADOPTED   Jefferson Feed located at 4421 Jefferson Highway is going to hold another special pet adoption day on Sunday, August 23rd from 11a.m. to 4 p.m. to assist in finding homes for the cats and dogs at the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelters.
REDUCE CAT OVERPOPULATION   The Louisiana SPCA (LA/SPCA) has entered into an agreement with the Atlanta Humane Society and the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter to transport 40 cats to increase their chances of adoption.
LOUISIANA SPCA REVIEW OF THE JEFFERSON PARISH ANIMAL SHELTER UNDERWAY   At the request of the Jefferson Parish, today the Louisiana SPCA (LA/SPCA) began an independent investigation on the allegations contained in emails that circulated on Friday, August 14, 2009 regarding the euthanasia of animals at the Jefferson Parish East Bank Animal Shelter.

JEFFERSON PARISH BREAKS GROUND TO REPLACE GYM DESTROYED BY KATRINA   Jefferson Parish Officials will break ground for construction of a new gymnasium at the Walley Pontiff Jr. Playground on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 10 a.m.

DERBIGNY STREET ROAD CLOSURE   Beginning Friday, July 31, 2009 at 6 p.m. and ending Monday, August 3, 2009 at 6 a.m., and then again on Friday, August 7, 2009 to Monday, August 10, 2009, Derbigny Street in Gretna will completely close between 3rd and 2nd Streets.
MEDIA ADVISORY   The Jefferson Parish Department of Emergency Management along with the Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD), the State Department of Social Services (DSS), and several local agencies will be conducting this exercise.
DEMOLITIONS UNDERWAY ON LOUISIANA LAND TRUST PROPERTIES   The State recently notified Jefferson Parish that it has issued a "notice to proceed" to the State's contractor for the demolition of blighted Louisiana Land Trust (LLT) properties in Jefferson Parish.

ANNUAL ANTI-RABIES CAMPAIGN   The annual campaign to have parish dogs and cats vaccinated against rabies is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2009, at the East Bank and West Bank Animal Shelters in Jefferson Parish.
EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE   Fleming Construction Company will be doing emergency waterline repairs for the Jefferson Parish Department of Water on Brooklyn Avenue in Harvey on Thursday, July 16, 2009, beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at 4:40 p.m.
POSSIBLE WATER PRESSURE DROPS DUE TO GRAND ISLE WATERLINE IMPROVEMENTS   As Jefferson Parish installs a new parish water main in the Grand Isle area, water customers may experience a few instances of temporarily reduced water pressure.
CYTEC INDUSTRIES AMMONIA RELEASE UNDER CONTROL   At approximately 11:53 a.m. today Jefferson Parish 911 was notified by Cytec Industries on River Road in Waggaman that it has lost power and that its flares had blown out.
$12.6 MILLION IN SAVINGS   According to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) state office, residents of unincorporated Jefferson Parish will realize approximately $12.6 million in savings on their flood insurance premiums when the Parish upgrades from a Class 7 to a Class 6 rating in May, 2010.
JEFFERSON PARISH ENDS TEMPORARY SHELTERS FOR FEMA TRAILER RESIDENTS   Jefferson Parish will no longer provide temporary shelters in the event of a tornado warning or watch to those citizens who reside in FEMA trailers.
SEVERAL LANE CLOSURES IN JEFFERSON PARISH   The following one lane traffic restrictions will apply through Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.
