The parish's comprehensive plan - Envision Jefferson 2040 - guides decisions regarding growth and development and provides the framework for defining the future of unincorporated Jefferson Parish. The Parish Council adopted Envision Jefferson 2040 on November 6, 2019 (Ordinance No. 25891) and it became effective December 6, 2019. Envision Jefferson 2040 is an update to the parish's first comprehensive plan - Envision Jefferson 2020 - which the Parish Council adopted on August 6, 2003 (Ordinance No. 21939).
